Lü Lingqi

Lü Lingqi is the fictional name given to the daughter of the late Han Dynasty warlord Lü Bu and his first wife Lady Yan. Her real given name is unknown. The name "Lü Lingqi" originated in the Koei video game ''Dynasty Tactics 2''.
After Lü Bu seized Xu Province from the general Liu Bei (who had recently taken command shortly after Tao Qian's death), the neighbouring warlord and self-declared emperor Yuan Shu wished to strengthen their relationship by a marriage alliance. Lü Bu at first agreed to marry his daughter to Yuan Shu's son, Yuan Yao. Lü Bu, however, was strong in force at the time and arrogantly refused the marriage alliance, sending Yuan Shu's envoy as prisoner to the rival warlord Cao Cao.
When Liu Bei in turn approached Cao Cao for aid, Lü Bu was surrounded by their coalition at Xiapi and sought reinforcements from Yuan Shu. Lü Bu sent a letter to Yuan Shu offering his daughter's hand in marriage. Yuan Shu, however, was still offended by Lü Bu's earlier denial, and refused to send troops until Lü Bu's daughter was personally delivered.
Lü Bu reluctantly accepted Yuan Shu's request on Zhang Liao's return, and rode out of Xiapi along with Lü Lingqi on his back with Zhang Liao and Gao Shun as escorts. Liu Bei's troops, however, attacked fiercely, forcing Lü Bu to withdraw and the ploy was abandoned.
==In popular culture==
Lü Lingqi is featured, again unnamed, in Luo Guanzhong's novel, the ''Romance of the Three Kingdoms''. In the novel, Lü Bu sends Zhang Liao and Hao Meng during the Siege of Xiapi to present the marriage proposal and alliance to Yuan Shu; he promptly turns them away, refusing unless Lü Bu's daughter is personally delivered. However, Zhang Fei ambushes the two on their return, and Hao Meng is captured, leaking the plans for the marriage before his execution. Zhang Liao returns with the message, and Lü Bu agrees, but the information Zhang Fei gained allows the coalition to stop the plan. In reality, Hao Meng was not involved in the marriage proposal, and was killed after joining a mutiny in Xiapi against Lü Bu.
Lü Lingqi appears as a playable character in Koei's ''Dynasty Tactics 2'' and ''Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends'' as well as the ''Romance of the Three Kingdoms'' series as a portrait character, who is unlocked by having the ''Dynasty Tactics 2'' save file. In ''Dynasty Tactics 2'' she is shown to be quite a powerful officer and has the cavalry class set. She always fights for her father and tries to reach his skill as a warrior. Lü Lingqi is shown to love her father so much she is willing to sacrifice herself in one of Lü Bu's endings. She and Sun Shangxiang are the only female playable characters in ''Dynasty Tactics 2'', although the Qiao sisters are temporarily mentioned in a conversation between Zhou Yu and Sun Ce.
In ''Dynasty Warriors 4'', she is an unseen character in the Battle of Xiapi. When his army's morale is low enough, Lü Bu will send a carriage with his daughter to Yuan Shu; the player then has the choice to destroy the carriage, thus preventing Yuan Shu's reinforcements from arriving. She makes her playable debut in ''Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends''.
